Motorcycle Touring

Highway 81, just south of Yankton, SD - Saturday, Nov. 25th, 2006.
It's been a while since I posted anything here...gomen!

Over Thanksgiving this year, the weather was EXTREMELY nice all week, so I took advantage of it and took a little tour on my motorcycle!

I usually visit my parents in South Dakota every Thanksgiving, and this year was no exception. I just did it on two wheels instead of four this year! ;)

This is also officially the longest ride I have taken on a motorcycle so far, at just a little over 400 miles, round-trip. The temperatures were unbelievable for November in Nebraska/South Dakota, seeing at least one thermometer along the way at almost 70F degrees on Wednesday! It was a bit cooler on the way back home Saturday, not getting much above 53F degrees.

Anyway, the picture was taken on Saturday Nov. 25th, just south of Yankton on Hwy. 81.

This was just the first of what I hope will be many motorcycle trips I will take. I am already planning another one for next summer, though I don't know if that will be my NEXT trip. ;)

Saying goodbye to an old friend...

Dave (Boardo, as many of us called him) was a good friend. He passed away this past Thursday, July 13th. He was 40.

It is never easy to lose a friend, especially someone like him. Dave was always upbeat, kind, friendly and willing to listen. He was also quick with a joke, one-liner, or movie quote (his specialty) to lighten any mood and bring a smile to your face. No doubt the regular members of a particular group of local modemers will think of him anytime any number of movies are watched, but in particular 'The Princess Bride' ("Mawwiage!") or 'MST3K: The Movie' ("I'm not an alien!" & "Hey, the floors look GREAT!").
Dave and I had DJ'ed wedding receptions together, and I personally DJ'ed Dave and Stephanie's reception. Music was always a big part of Dave's life, and he enjoyed playing it as much as anyone I have known.

Friend, fellow DJ, "partner in crime" on more than one occasion...you'll have to play this gig without me.

No more "Huzzah, and well met!". Things just won't be the same around here.

Farewell, old friend. Godspeed to you!
-Warren

Dave Daugherty

If you knew Dave, you knew how much radio was a part of his life. The following were his web pages, mainly related to Nebraska radio stations: current information, history, etc. I don't know how long these will remain up, but here are the links:

Dave's Nebraska Radio website

Dave's infamous 'Z-95' internet radio site - I have the distinct honor of being "the Official Mobile DJ of Z-95"!

The '4:30 on a Friday Creative' page - This has links to many of Dave's online projects.

Posting schedule

I'm not sure how many people out there read this thing, but you may notice that my posts seem to be few and far between. There IS a reason for this...I happen to have a number of places to post online, including spaces on my own server. That tends to be where a majority of my material goes, and this space is more or less just for playing around with.
I'll keep posting here, don't you worry! Especially if it's something that I think I want to get noticed a little easier than on my personal server.
